How to use english ivy

Stabilised english ivy is a flexible plant that’s easy to work with. Thanks to its fine, trailing stems, it fits naturally into all kinds of suspended or wall-mounted botanical arrangements. It can be used as a cascading element in elevated designs, to dress a floral arch or to add texture to a hanging installation. Its delicate, irregularly variegated leaves create a sense of movement that enhances the whole composition without overwhelming it.

In stabilised wall decoration, ivy is often used to trace outlines, frame a shape or guide the eye along a specific direction. It's also becoming increasingly popular in scenography and interior design projects with a botanical theme, especially for shop windows, restaurants or events.

A plant full of meaning

Ivy is a plant deeply rooted in the collective imagination. Found in European forests for centuries, it’s known for its ability to climb, cling and wrap around trunks and walls. In many cultures, it symbolises fidelity, endurance and attachment. In the language of flowers, ivy often represents eternal love or protection against negative influences.

Open to interpretation

Visually discreet yet versatile, ivy leaves plenty of room for creative freedom. It can be used as a backdrop, a linking element, a natural filler or a subtle finishing touch, depending on the design. It’s a supporting botanical material that enhances other elements while maintaining its own identity.

Floral designers often use it as a flexible base for fluid compositions, modular structures or decorations that evolve over time. It allows for variation in form without disrupting the overall balance, and helps introduce verticality into horizontally oriented arrangements.
