Lagurus ovatus, commonly known as 'hare's tail', is a delicate, graceful grass that has made a name for itself in the world of floral decoration.

LAGURUS IN THE WILD

Native to Mediterranean regions, this plant can be recognised by its soft, silky spikes, which evoke the softness and elegance of hare's coats, hence its name. This annual plant often grows in meadows, coastal dunes and roadsides.

It is grown mainly for its distinctive inflorescences, which resemble small, silky pompons. These spikes, which usually measure between 2 and 5 cm in length, are made up of many tiny flowers, giving them their unique appearance and soft texture.

THE BEST PLANT COMBINATIONS

  • Stabilised eucalyptus : Eucalyptus leaves, with their silvery-green hue and distinct shape, create an interesting contrast with the spikes of Lagurus ovatus. The eucalyptus adds a freshness that perfectly complements the softness and serenity of Storm Blue.
  • Stabilised Rose : Roses add a touch of romance and colour to arrangements with Lagurus. The pink, white or cream tones of the roses create an elegant contrast with the blue/grey of the Lagurus.
  • Dried Pampas : Dried pampas, with their voluminous, textured feathers, work well with Lagurus ovatus for larger, more spectacular arrangements. The combination of the two creates a rich and diverse visual effect, ideal for large-scale decorations.
